From May 26 to 28, Alma Ibrahimovic (Senior Learning Advisor) and Marijn Maats (Learning Advisor) from the Academy for International Relations of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA/BZ) participated in the EU Training Directors’ Meeting, held during the 25th edition of the European Diplomatic Programme (EDP) in Warsaw.

Opportunities to connect

This meeting brought together 27 EU directors of MFA diplomatic academies, alongside representatives from the European External Action Service (EEAS). Over two days, MFA training directors from across the EU:
➡️ Shared insights and best practices on emerging trends in learning & development and explored ways to strengthen cooperation;
➡️ Engaged in specialized sessions on countering disinformation, led by Ron Ton from The Clingendael Institute;
➡️ And had valuable opportunities to connect and network 🤝.

Beyond the EDP, our time in Warsaw included a visit to the Embassy of the Netherlands in Poland, where we presented on learning & development initiatives for Dutch MFA staff.

Looking forward to the 26th edition in Copenhagen

A big thank you to everyone who made the 25th EDP such a successful event — especially our Polish colleagues at the Polish MFA Academy and their team for organizing and hosting us, as well as Charles-Michel Geurts and Jana Čechlovská from the EEAS for their invaluable contributions. It was truly inspiring to engage in fruitful discussions among diplomatic academies and training services across the EU.

Looking forward to reconnecting in November in Copenhagen during the Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU 2025 for the 26th edition of the European Diplomatic Programme!
