We look back on another edition of the annual NL-UK Joint Diplomatic Programme in the Hague from 28-30 January 2026: a three-day training for diplomats from the Netherlands and the United Kingdom (UK) covering shared foreign policy priorities and training in diplomatic skills.

Strong bilateral relations
The Netherlands and the United Kingdom share strong bilateral relations. This programme promotes relationship building, experience sharing and joint learning with our North Sea Neighbours, through sessions on ‘Europe in the World’, ‘Sanctions cooperation’ and ‘Innovation and tech in diplomacy’, as well as a training in Crucial Conversations and a stakeholder visit to the International Criminal Court.
The Europe Department (DEU) and the Academy for International relations of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs would like to thank all participants for their valuable insights! It was a pleasure to host our UK participants in The Hague and we are looking forward to the next edition in London.
